三、教學目標 Objectives
本課程旨在對大數據和相關的研究方法進行基本介紹。 本課程的目的是使學生熟悉大數據分析，做為解決實際的研究課題的工具。
本課程從基本介紹大數據分析開始，並討論數據分析所需要的條件以及相關技術。通過實例深入討論大數據在決策分析的優勢和侷限性。 然後，為修課同學設計案例研究練習。本課程旨在為有興趣了解如何用大數據協助決策分析的同學的一項入門課程。
This course provides a basic introduction to big data and corresponding quantitative research methods. The objective of the course is to familiarize students with big data analysis as a tool for addressing substantive research questions. The course begins with a basic introduction to big data and discusses what the analysis of these data entails, as well as associated technical, conceptual and ethical challenges. Strength and limitations of big data research are discussed in depth using real-world examples. Students then engage in case study exercises in which small groups of students develop and present a big data concept for a specific real-world case. This includes practical exercises to familiarize students with the format of big data. It also provides a first hands-on experience in handling and analyzing large, complex data structures. The course is designed as a primer for anyone interested in attaining a basic understanding of what big data analys is entails.

本課程由阮金祥老師及賈凱傑老師共同開授，期間並安排數據分析與新科技發展的專家，進行專題演講。
授課方式以講授為主，但最後4周，將提供修課同學數據庫，進行大數據分析實做。
