三、教學目標 Objectives
本課程為一門概述東亞社會(聚焦日本、韓國、中國、台灣)之社會與文化的課程。課程將介紹東亞地區的文化傳統、東亞國家的簡要歷史、區域重要性,接著介紹東亞國家重要的社會與文化面向,包括東亞國家貧窮現象、青少年失業、高齡化與少子化趨勢、對於疫情的政策回應…等。本課程旨在為對東亞社會感興趣的學生提供一個東亞地區在國際上獨特性的瞭解。

具體而言,本課程旨在為學生提供:1.了解20至21世紀東亞社會的知識文化工具;2.了解東亞國家主要的社會文化議題;3. 理解東亞既是一個有相同文化特徵的經濟共同體,又是具有不同的政治體系和當代文化的個別國家

課程講授方式,除授課老師上課外,將邀請相關領域的專家學者進行專題演講,輔以實地參觀,期使修習本課程的同學對東亞社會與文化有一深入的了解。
This course is an overview of the society and culture of East Asian societies (focusing on Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan). The course will introduce the cultural traditions of East Asia, brief history of East Asian countries, and its regional importance. It then will introduce important social and cultural issues of East Asian countries, including poverty, youth unemployment, aging, low fertility trends, and resonding policies for the epidemic ...etc. This course is designed to provide students interested in East Asian societies with an understanding of the uniqueness of East Asia in the international arena.

Specifically, this course aims to provide students with:
1. the knowledge and culture tools to understand East Asia in the 20th and 21st centuaries;
2. appreciation of the major historical events and social issues that have made East Asian countries what they are today;
3. an understanding of East Asia as both an economically connected region with overlapping cultural identities, and a diverse group of countries with divergent political systems and contemporary cultures.
