三、教學目標 Objectives
1. to enlarge the students' “concept” of culture, widen their perspective.

2. to assist Ss in identifying how the term culture is useful for economic, business purposes and/or , therefore, more relevant to their own learning goals.
3 to assist Ss in recognising the complexity of a term such as culture, which can be used in a variety of ways for a variety of purposes.

四、課程內容 Course Description
整體敘述 Overall Description
This course centres on the theme of ‘culture’ under which such subjects as gender, ethnicity, class, etc. are researched and studied.it emphasises research and oral presentation skills. Students will engage in conducting research, reporting synthesised information from different sources, as well as in problem solving and decision making activities.

出席 20%a penalty will be incurred if a student misses more than 4 classes over the course of the semester.
報告 60%midterm-- group presentation
final-- written report
課堂討論 20%students are highly encouraged to be pro-active in class and actively participate in group discussions. Initiative is the key. to increase your grade, you can try the following : speak English at all times, ask questions, prepare before class and try not to be late for class. students wil receive 50% of their attendance grade as their base mark for this grading item. each time they take initiative by asking/ answering questions, volunteering, expressing opinions...ect, they will add 1 point ( 10%) towards their final grade for this grading item

The add- and drop period is the first 2 weeks after the new semester begins, this means you are given two weeks to consider whether this is a suitable class for you. I am afraid you will NOT be able to withdraw from the class toward the end of the semester once you decide to stay in the class after the add-and drop period.
