三、教學目標 Objectives | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
English Composition, as a required course for Sophomore, aims to equip students with knowledge and understanding of English composition in particular writing well-organized paragraphs through principles of writing, exercises, and reading. Students should demonstrate their ability to write different types of paragraphs, which pave their way for writing essays. Attention will also be given to the development of well-organized essays, vocabulary building, and other aspects of writing. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. understand the structure of a paragraph; 2. write topic sentences; 3. use examples and explanation to support the topic sentences; 4. to combine sentences to form a paragraph. To reach the afore-mentioned goals, students will be encouraged to engage in a variety of in- and out-of-class activities including reading the required texts and samples of paragraphs, engaging in class discussions, implementing self-study, and writing paragraphs. |

●整體敘述 Overall Description The purpose of this course is to further develop students’ writing ability from sentences to paragraphs. We will read the principles of paragraphs, do exercises, and participate in class activities. By the end of this course, students will be able to apply what they have learned into practices, that is, to write a well-organized paragraph. |
