本課程試圖在以下幾個方面幫助學生並加強學習: 1. 幫助學生發展邏輯思維,將觀點組織成合乎邏輯的順序(例如:按重要性順序組織訊息),並形成連貫的段落(包括主題句、支持句、過渡句、結論句)。 2. 通過段落寫作練習幫助學生發展批判性思維(例如:撰寫評論)。 3. 幫助學生練習不同目的寫作(例如:對比段落、程序段落——按時間順序組織訊息)。 4. 幫助學生熟悉寫作過程,從搜集素材(腦力激盪)、組織(提綱)、起草、編輯和修改,與一次到位的寫作模式做出區別。 5. 透過加強文法,幫助學生正確書寫英語。 6. 通過精進用詞,幫助學生更流暢地書寫英語。 |

The course attempts to assist students and enhance their learning in the following aspects: 1. To help students develop logical thinking by organizing ideas into logical orders (e.g.organizing information by order of importance) and into coherent paragraphs (a topic sentence, supporting sentences, transitions, and a concluding sentence) 2. To help students develop critical thinking through paragraph writing exercises (e.g.opinion paragraphs) 3. To help students practice writing for different purposes (e.g., compare and contrast paragraphs, process paragraphs-organizing information by time order) 4. To help students become acquainted with Process writing, prewriting (brainstorming), organizing or outlining, drafting, editing, and revising, not just Product writing 5. To help students be able to write English more accurately with a focus on grammar learning 6. To help students be able to write English more fluently by refining their vocabulary |

四、課程內容 Course Description | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
●整體敘述 Overall Description The class is focused on improving students’ writing ability, concentrating on the composition of sentences and short paragraphs. Students are asked to practice their writing not only in the class but also at home. Through the help and guidance of the instructor, students can upgrade their writing skills. The course provides basic writing instruction, dependable strategies, and many opportunities for students to use the composition skills they need to be successful writers in and out of the classroom. Examples and model paragraphs are used to illustrate organizing elements such as topic sentences, supporting details, and signal words. In addition, step-by-step activities guide students in comparing and contrasting, describing, analyzing data, writing test answers, and summarizing. Besides, varied, contextualized writing tasks help students with real-life tasks. There are editing and proofreading exercises which encourage students to refine their writing skills. |
