三、教學目標 Objectives
該門課程設計主要幫助學生通過學校英語畢業門檻,培養英語聽說讀寫能力,並且提升日常以及工作中的英語溝通能力。除此之外,職場英語將會整合於課程中,幫助學生未來就業做準備。本課程目標包含:
1. 理解英語對話。
2.一般性主題簡報。
3. 提升閱讀能力。
4. 職場書信撰寫。

This course will help students develop four language skills in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing. That is, the program is designed to promote students’ English proficiency to reach the Soochow English graduation threshold, and to enhance their communication skills in daily life and at work. In addition, workplace skills will be integrated into the curriculum to help students gain a competitive edge for their future career.
1. Comprehend daily conversations and talks on specific topics.
2. Engage in conversations and give presentations on general topics.
3. Enhance reading skills
4. Write emails for workplace

五、考評及成績核算方式 Grading

出席 10%Students are expected to prepare for and participate in class activities. Each student is responsible for his or her own learning. This means each person brings the course book and the handouts to the class, comes to class on time, prepares homework assignments before class, asks questions, contributes to conversations, participates in all activities, and supports other class members. For each absence without excused leave 1 point will be deducted from the final grade. A medical leave requires proof of medical care. All other excused leaves also require proof. All students are expected to attend class on time.
平時作業 20%To practice and review the topic cover in each unit, students will complete homework by the deadline. Homework includes writing practice and memorizing vocabulary. No late homework will be accepted.
In addition, quizzes will be given to make sure students are keeping up with what‘s going on in class. Quizzes include vocabulary or grammar test. A quiz usually will be conducted before the class begins. If you miss a TEST, QUIZ, or in-class PAPER, NO make-up will be given.

TOEIC mock tests (×1) 5%Each set of test materials will be drawn from two sets of online TOEIC exercises, with questions chosen randomly to comprise a 30-40 minutes test. These TOEIC mock tests are to be administered once during class in the first semester, accounting for 5% of the semester grade. One TOEIC mock test is to be administered during class in the second semester and will account for 5% of the semester grade.
Students are encouraged to do the online Easy Test practice after the class. (http://eztest.idc.scu.edu.tw/index.asp). Please note: Students should not mark on the test sheet. The test sheet will be collected right after the test and reused in the future.
Project 10%In each semester, teachers will assign at least one of the activities which have been incorporated into Sophomore English curriculum since 2012: Self-introduction, Resume, Presentation, and Job interview. In the fall semester, teachers will give the lessons on the topics of “resume and job interview” and students will have a final oral exam. In the spring semester, teachers will give the lessons on the topic of “presentation” and students will be required to give a group presentation.
Easy Test 線上學習測驗平台 5%Starting from 2019-2020 school year, New TOEIC mock test exercises [those after March 2018] will be available on Language Center’s website (see the links below), and students are required to practice them online, which will account for 5% of their semester grade.

1)The instructor will use school’s course website Moodle Digital Platform (http://isee.scu.edu.tw/) to upload class-related information, materials, and other communications. It is essential that students regularly check the course website.
2)Students who actively participate in the class activities and answer questions in class also can have extra points in their final grade.
3)Respect and Class Etiquette: Please show courtesy in the classroom. Don’t talk when someone else (the instructor or another students) is addressing the class. Cell phone is not allowable and must be turned off or turned to vibration during the class period.
4)Academic Honesty: All work submitted for this course must be your own original work. Any student caught plagiarizing will get a failing grade of F for the assignment and will not be allowed to make up the assignment.
5)Intellectual Property Right: Use only copyrighted textbook in class.
