三、教學目標 Objectives
- 使學生具有基本的閱讀技巧，如略讀、尋讀、搜讀主要概念或關鍵細節，理解篇章結構順序及概念間的關聯
- 透過閱讀增加學生的詞彙量
- 培養學生的批判性和創造性思考能力，例如在討論和簡單的寫作過程中所培養出的分析、評估和解決問題的能力
- 透過貼近真實生活技能來提高學生的聽說能力
To equip students with basic reading skills, such as skimming, scanning, reading for main ideas, key details, understanding sequence and connecting ideas
To expand students’ vocabulary through reading
To develop students’ critical and creative thinking skills, such as analysis, evaluation and problem solving in discussions and simple writing
To increase students’ listening and speaking abilities by focusing on practical, real-life skills

1. Students should attend class on time, and stay in the classroom throughout the whole class period.
2. Arriving after a roll call, sick leave or special personal leave will count as a 1/2 absence.
3. For any late work, there will be a 10-point deduction each day after the due date.
4. Make-up tests will not be offered, except under extraordinary circumstances with appropriate documentation.
5. Use of cell phones during class is prohibited. Please turn them off. If you need to keep your cell phones on for important calls, use silent mode.
6. Students may receive 1-2 points per time added to their final grades for extra credit assignments.
7. If students have any questions or problems regarding the class requirements, please discuss them with your instructor immediately.
