三、教學目標 Objectives
This course is designed to nurture in students an interest in the Chinese Mainland affairs and cross-strait relations. Topics to be discussed include: The rise of China as both an economic and a military superpower; China’s political and economic policy toward Taiwan, and vice versa; A brief history of Taiwan-China exchange for the past six decades; The role played by the USA in Taiwan-China relations; and The potential impact of USA-China trade war on cross-Strait relations; and etc. It is through this in-depth analysis of China’s politico-economic development as well as the past trajectory of cross-strait relations, students are expected to learn to appreciate the nature and potential future trends of these relations

整體敘述 Overall Description
a. This class will be conducted in a manner befitting a seminar. Interactions between the instructor and students are expected and encouraged. Topics to be discussed will be presented with the aid of PowerPoint slide show. Audio/video materials may also be shown whenever available and deemed necessary.
b. Each week students are required to collect at least 1 piece of current economic/business/trade news concerning mainland China from the mass media and share the news with fellow students. 30 minutes of class time each week will be allocated for this endeavor.
