三、教學目標 Objectives
本課目主要是利用微生物為對象，補充有關生態學的基礎知識並配合相關的文章使同學更容易將所學與事實連結在一起。主要的授課內容包括以下七部份。一、研究方法:傳統與進代有關微生物生態學研究方法的簡介，優缺點的分析。二、生態系的組成:特別討論如何進行群落架構的分析。三、生態系的發展:介紹微生物如何經由遷徙、拓殖及繼代而造成一穩定的生態系及其影響因子。四、極端環境的介紹:讓同學了解微生物是如何在南極、深海、砂漠與溫泉等極端環境中生存。五、生物之間的互補與韻抗作用:內容包括，片面共生、互利共生、競爭、寄生、捕食及毒害等作用。同時並介紹這些作用對外來微生物在環境中消長的影響。六、生物防治:生物防治製劑的簡介，主要著重在Bacillus spp.七、元素循環:介紹元素循環與全球變遷的關係。
The goal of this course is to discuss the relationship between microorganism and its surrounding environment. Besides routine lecture, students are required to read related journal articles and give an oral presentation about the content he or she had read. Following topics are included in the lecture: 1. Methodology; 2. Hierarchy; 3. Ecosystem development; 4. Extreme environment; 5. Microbial interaction; 6. Biological control; 7. Biogeochemistry.
