三、教學目標 Objectives
The objective of this class is to familiarize students with the thoughts and literary styles of the authors at the Victorian age and in the 20th century, and then to enable students to appreciate the beauty and pathos in their literary works.

四、課程內容 Course Description
整體敘述 Overall Description
A study of British literature in the Victorian age (1832-1901) and
the Twentieth Century, with an introduction to the Victorian mentality
and the concepts of modernism. Before the mid-term exam, we will study
three important Victorian poets, namely Tennyson, Browning and Arnold;
after the mid-term exam, the focus will be placed on 20th major writers
like Hardy, Yeats, Woolf, Joyce and T. S. Eliot.
