Students will become experienced speechwriters and confident orators. Students are expected to give speeches on a regular basis and to actively participate in class activities and discussions.
四、課程內容 Course Description
整體敘述 Overall Description
In this class, you will extend your knowledge and skills in public speaking. We will begin with a series of 15-minute brainstorms to refresh these skills in time for the Events Week. We will work to improve oratory, expression and notetaking, extending the art of note-taking from key words to inflection, intonation and gesture indications. A shorter, personal experience speech will be organized and presented in the cause-effect format. This speech will be prepared and presented following Spring Break. Students will be encouraged to prepare their note cards using all strategies instructed during the term. Finally, students will prepare a longer, 20-minute persuasive speech over the course of the term, which you will present near the end of term. During weeks 16-17, students will attend one of two impromptu speech challenge-and-response events that will test your ability to apply the skills you have acquired over the term, ensuring you have acquired the necessary skills to be an effective, intriguing and empowered orator.
