This course aims to familiarize the 2nd-year English-majored students with practical oral business English skills. Through meaningful language activities and interesting discussions of current issues concerning oral English used in various situations, this course teaches students to speak English properly, logically, and confidently in various business situations. This course not only teaches important aspects of general social interaction but also provides a framework for conversational analysis and practice. Students will get training to use English properly and effectively in such situations as making comments, stating one’s opinion, debating over an issue, and dealing with hesitation strategies and “sticky” situations, etc. On the whole, this course helps students to develop their English proficiency in general, and effective speaking skills of business English in particular.
