三、教學目標 Objectives
隨著全球企業力求即時管理，管理經理人的快速反應成為許多企業的首要工作。然而，為了幫助管理者做出快速反應，資訊也必須即時準備好。ERP系統日漸成熟而且可以進一步提供原始資料作為分析的基礎。然而，ERP系統中的資料以及其他系統中的資料必須事先被清理、提取並載入到一個可以有效儲存到另一個統一資料的系統中，以生成管理與決策報表。該系統稱為商業智慧（也稱為資料倉儲）。隨著大數據時代的推進，幾乎每個組織都需要商業智慧。

《商業智慧導論》課程主要目的是讓學生了解企業如何處理和分析這些資料，以及這些資料如何形成有效商業決策的智慧。除了學習課堂講座中的方法外，還提供了一個實作環節，幫助學生使用一些 R 或 Python 指令進行分析。目標是讓學生具備在商業分析方面進行學術和實作研究的基本能力。
As enterprise worldwide strive for real time management, quick responses from managers become mandate for many enterprises. To help managers make quick responses, however, information has to be ready in real time, too. The maturity of ERP systems establishes a foundation for providing the raw data for the responsiveness. However, the data in ERP systems along with data in other systems has to be cleaned, extracted, and loaded to a system that can effectively store the unified data and has user-friendly interface to produce managerial reports. The system is called Business Intelligence (also named Data Warehouse). With the advance of big data era, the need for a Business Intelligence is prevail in almost every organization.

The main purpose of the course "Introduction to Business Intelligence" is to let business students understand how companies process and analyze these data, and how these data form the wisdom of effective business decisions.

Besides learning the methods in the class lecture, a session is also offered to help students using some R or Python instructions to conduct the analysis. The goal is to equip students with fundamental capability to conduct academic and practical research in business analytics.
