三、教學目標 Objectives
大一普通化學是化學系同學進入分科化學教育前的基礎核心課程，其課程內容涵蓋大二與大三專業化學課程的基本觀念介紹，故本課程的教學目標旨在傳授化學系同學應該具備的化學觀念，為未來的分科化學教育奠定良好的基礎，同時對常見到的化學字彙（無論是英文或中文）有正確的認識，期能訓練化學系的學生具有良好的化學知識與英文閱讀能力。
General Chemistry is the basic core course before taking the subject core courses. The contents of general chemistry includes the general basic chemical concepts of the professional chemical courses. The purpose of the course is training the ability of speaking, listening, reading and writing English and the chemical knowledge.

課程內容為促進學生能對化學系四年專業課程有廣泛的基本認識，將就基礎觀念的定義以及原理的了解進行統整講授。
授課方式包括：
1. 範例練習題及其例題之講解
2. 教科書之課外閱讀之討論與講解
3. 教科書之課本練習題之隨堂測驗
講授內容包括：Properties of Solutions; Chemical Kinetics; Chemical Equilibrium; Acids and Bases; Acid-Base Equilibria; Solubility and Complex Ion Equilibria; Spontaneity, Entropy, and Free Energy; Coordination Chemistry
